the impossible box

The masterwork created by Arius over the course of a year - relevant as a standalone work as opposed to another instrumental work (link) as it is an entire sound lab made for music creation and film sound by the artist and for the artist. It is the culmination of over eleven years of work in the field of instrument design and sound artistry - taking conceptual aspects of most of the individual works the man has ever created, and piecing it all together.
The work is rather large, built from the ground up, not with the "modular synthesizer" mentality, but with the intention of moving outside the "electronics as sound source" realm and into acoustic manipulation amongst other methods of creating a body of sound. Oftentimes minimal or ambient but always tonally lush.
The concern in the creation of this piece was that upon completion it would not easily dive into an (addictive) state of bleeps and altered electronic waves - which would limit the sound to ultimately having an "electronic" nature. Therefore, the foundation of the work was more a sound designed structure, rather than a conglomeration of circuits meant to create and alter electronics. Sound theory over electronics theory.
Creating a work of this magnitude with that intention ultimately offered something perhaps somewhat flawed and imperfect electronically, but also something with which the a more natural sound atmosphere is created - making it entirely unique sonically.
